Mansergh Graham was engaged to assess the effects of the proposal Darfield Solar Farm on landscape character, natural character and visual amenity, and to provide specialist input to the consenting process. Our work included a detailed landscape and visual assessment, supported by quantitative glint and glare analysis of the solar arrays to identify potential effects on neighbouring properties, roads and public viewpoints. Drawing on these findings, we prepared an integrated mitigation and landscape design response, including site layout refinements, earthworks and planting measures, to avoid, remedy or mitigate effects.  Consent for the development was gained in 2025.

Our Role:

  • Landscape, natural character and visual effects assessment.
  • Glint and glare analysis.
  • 3D modelling and the production of accurate visual simulations.
  • Review of submissions and response to requests for further information from the Council.
  • Assistance in the preparation of draft conditions of consent for landscape mitigation.
  • Identification of glint and glare mitigation requirements.
